About Me

I was born in 1990. I grew up on a farm. I graduated from UCC in 2013 in Business Information Systems (BIS) and I have worked in various roles in banking, web development and IT Support since then. I graduated from Hibernia College with a PME in Primary Education in 2021. I have a few teachers in the family and my great grandfather was a school inspector in Irish who advocated the prioritization of the teaching of spoken Irish over the rest of the subject. I was also greatly inspired by my past teachers as well. I always wanted to be a primary teacher but I ended up doing my degree in Business Information Systems in UCC after secondary school. I am glad I did because it is already proving useful in my various roles as a teacher. One side of my family is from the Baile Bhúirne gaeltacht in Cork. This, and going to a secondary school with a strong Irish identity and tradition (Coláiste Chríost Rí) has instilled in me a love for the Irish language. This is why I regularly attend Irish language conversational groups and fit in classes for myself when I can as well.

I am attracted to teaching as a profession because I believe it is what I am most suited to. I love working with children as shown by my youth club work and my help organizing a surf camp every summer for kids with autism. I know primary teaching presents it's own challenges and I have enjoyed tackling them thus far in the courses I have done and in the classrooms I have been in. I have a passion for teaching and some of the subjects I would especially enjoy teaching would be Irish, English, Maths and Science. Some of my interests include reading, hiking and learning new things.
